When Safety Doesn't Matter

Marlene Chisholm discusses safety in the workplace. Be aware of violent employees.

This link takes you to an article on safety in the workplace.  I run into this situation when speaking with clients about background checks. If someone has a violent history at home, it’s likely that same person will be violent in the workplace. Each year, over two million U.S. workers are victims of workplace violence. Business owners could minimize this by doing background checks before hiring someone, and also doing follow up checks on current employees every two years.
The problem is when an employer chooses not to do a background check and the employee is violent in the workplace, the employer is the one liable.
